Marc Degens, born in Essen in 1971, is a writer. He founded the SUKULTUR publishing house and served as its program director. He became known in part for the literary column »Unsere Popmoderne«, which appeared from 2001 to 2012 in the feuilleton section of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and in the literary magazine »Volltext«. Degens published four novels, including »Hier keine Kunst«, »Das kaputte Knie Gottes« and »Fuckin Sushi«, as well as books of writings about Armenia and Canada. In 2014, he received the Hugo Ball Literature Promotion Award.
