Maddalena Guiotto received her doctorate from the University of Pavia. She worked, among other institutions, at the Istituto per le ricerche di storia sociale e religiosa in Vicenza, the German-Italian Centre Villa Vigoni, the Italian-German Historical Institute in Trento, and the Fondazione Museo Storico del Trentino. She also taught at the University of Udine-Gorizia and the University of Vienna. Her research focuses on Austrian-Italian and German-Italian relations in the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as the political career of Alcide De Gasperi. Guiotto co-edited De Gasperi’s “Scritti e discorsi politici”. In 2012, she co-edited “Italy, Austria and the Federal Republic of Germany in Europe” with Michael Gehler; in 2014, she published “The Italian Political Parties of Austria-Hungary and Their Position on the First World War”.
