Laura Baldini is the pen name of Austrian author Beate Maly. She trained as a kindergarten teacher and initially worked in that profession before publishing children’s stories, children’s books, and educational reference works. In 2007, she received the Vienna Authors’ Scholarship for the concept of her historical novel »Die Hebamme von Wien«. She also completed additional training as a mobile early-intervention specialist. Her novels include »Lehrerin einer neuen Zeit«, about Maria Montessori, »Ein Traum von Schönheit«, about Estée Lauder, and »Der strahlendste Stern von Hollywood«, about Katharine Hepburn. »Lehrerin einer neuen Zeit« spent several weeks on the SPIEGEL bestseller list.
