Kristian Fechtner

Kristian Fechtner (born 1961) is a Protestant theologian. He studied Protestant theology, received his doctorate from Philipps University Marburg in 1994, and completed his habilitation there in 2000. After serving as a vicar and being ordained in the Protestant Church in Hesse and Nassau, he was appointed professor of practical theology and university preacher at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in 2002. His academic interests include rites of passage, the church year, theories of the church, and popular culture and religion.
