He taught European economic and social history at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder), focusing among other topics on Central Europe’s colonial entanglements in the early modern period and the effects of globalization on labor regimes and patterns of consumption. He also researched the global transfer of conservative ideologies in the modern era.
