Hubert Steiner

Hubert Steiner was born in Mühlwald in 1969. He studied Prehistory and Early History, Classical Archaeology and Art History at the Leopold-Franzens University of Innsbruck, where he earned the degrees Mag. and Dr. phil. From 1997 to 2003, he worked as an independent archaeologist for the Office for Archaeological Monuments in Bolzano, including on the research project “Archaeological Investigations at Ganglegg near Sluderno.” He subsequently worked as a research assistant at the University of Innsbruck’s Institute of Prehistory and Early History until 2006, and then joined the Archaeology Office in Bolzano. Steiner has published extensively on the Bronze and Iron Ages in the Alpine region. His research focuses on settlement history, cult practices, and high-altitude and glacier archaeology.
