Ken Merten, born in Saxony in 1990, grew up in Seiffen in the Ore Mountains. He studied in Dresden, Hildesheim and Havana and was a recipient of a scholarship from the Hans Böckler Foundation. He worked as an editor, including for the daily newspaper »junge Welt« and in Berlin. In 2015, he received the Hüseyin Çelebi Literature Prize in the German-language category. His publications include the Cuban notebook »Sonne und Sichel« and the debut novel »Ich glaube jetzt, dass das die Lösung ist«. In 2022, he spent six months in Cuba as part of the Proyecto Tamara Bunke.
