Joseph Vogl, born in 1957 in Eggenfelden, Germany, is a German scholar of literature, culture and media, as well as a philosopher. From 2006 to 2023, he was Professor of Modern German Literature and of Literary and Cultural Studies/Media at Humboldt University of Berlin. He also held a visiting professorship at Princeton University. His books include *The Specter of Capital*, *The Sovereignty Effect* and *Capital and Resentment: A Short Theory of the Present*. In 2022, he received the Günther Anders Prize for Critical Thinking.
