Joseph O’Connor, born in Dublin in 1963, is an Irish writer. He studied in Dublin and Oxford and initially worked as a journalist, columnist and critic. His debut novel, “Cowboys and Indians,” was published in 1991 and shortlisted for the Whitbread Book Award. O’Connor has published novels, short-story collections, essays and plays. In 2014, he was appointed professor of creative writing at the University of Limerick. His 2019 novel “Shadowplay,” about Bram Stoker, author of “Dracula,” was adapted for film.
