Iris Radisch, born in Berlin in 1959, studied German, Romance languages and philosophy in Frankfurt am Main and Tübingen. She worked as a literary critic and became a literary editor at the weekly newspaper Die Zeit in 1990; in 2013 she took over the paper’s feuilleton section. She also worked as a television presenter, including on the book programme Literaturclub for Swiss television and 3sat. Radisch was a member of the television programme The Literary Quartet and served as chair of the jury for the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize from 2003. In 2008, she received the Media Prize for Language Culture from the Society for the German Language. In 2009, she was made a Chevalier des Arts et Lettres in France. The School of Women was her first book.
