Irene Dische

Irene Dische, born in New York in 1952, is a German-language writer. She studied at Harvard and made her literary debut in 1989 with the short-story collection »Fromme Lügen« (»Sacred Lies«). Her notable works include »Ein fremdes Gefühl«, »Die intimen Geständnisse des Oliver Weinstock«, »Großmama packt aus«, »Lieben«, »Schwarz und Weiß« and »Die militante Madonna«. Her first book for young readers, »Zwischen zwei Scheiben Glück«, received the German Youth Literature Prize in 1998. In 1986, she directed the documentary »Zacharias« about her father’s life. Together with Hans Magnus Enzensberger and illustrator Michael Sowa, she published the picture book »Esterhazy« in 2009.
