Inger-Maria Mahlke

Inger-Maria Mahlke grew up in Lübeck and on Tenerife. She studied law at Freie Universität Berlin and worked at its chair of criminology. In 2009, she won the Berliner Open Mike competition. Her debut novel, “Silberfischchen,” received the Klaus-Michael-Kühne Prize in 2010. An excerpt from “Rechnung offen” earned her the Ernst Willner Prize at the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize competition. In 2014, she received the Karl Arnold Prize from the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts. Her novel “Wie Ihr wollt” was shortlisted for the German Book Prize; in 2018, she won the prize for “Archipel.” Her other novels include “Unsereins.”
