Helmuth Kiesel (born 1947) is a German literary scholar. From 1990 to 2015, he was Professor of the History of Modern German-Language Literature at the University of Heidelberg’s German Studies Seminar. His research and publications include studies of literary modernism and twentieth-century literary history, as well as works on authors including Gotthold Ephraim Lessing, Alfred Döblin, Erich Kästner, Ernst Jünger, and Martin Walser. Kiesel edited Ernst Jünger’s war writings and was the editor of the twelve-volume edition of Martin Walser’s collected works.
