Stefan George

Stefan Anton George (1868–1933) was a German poet. Born in Büdesheim am Rhein, he founded the journal Blätter für die Kunst in 1892, where he published his own poetry. He also translated works by major European authors and influenced a circle of writers and friends known as the George Circle. He died in 1933 in Minusio, in the Swiss canton of Ticino.
