Helga van Beuningen

Helga van Beuningen (born 1945) studied English and Dutch at Heidelberg University, completing a translator’s diploma. She then taught Dutch for 15 years before beginning work as a freelance translator in 1984. Her translations include works by Cees Nooteboom, A. F. Th. van der Heijden, Margriet de Moor and Marcel Möring. Her work has been recognized with the Martinus Nijhoff Prize, the Schleswig-Holstein State Art Prize, the Helmut M. Braem Prize, the Else Otten Prize and, in 2021, the Straelen Translator’s Prize from the Kunststiftung NRW.
