Hagen Fleischer

Hagen Fleischer is a historian who taught at the universities of Rethymnon and Athens from 1979 onward. At the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, he established the field of contemporary history and remained there until his emeritus status in 2011. His research focuses include the Second World War, resistance and collaboration, the Greek Civil War, the Holocaust, and German-Greek relations in the 20th century. Fleischer represented Greece, among other bodies, on the International Historians’ Commission on Kurt Waldheim’s past and at international conferences concerning the Holocaust and the history of the Wehrmacht.
