Wolfgang Benz (born 1941 in Ellwangen/Jagst) is a German historian and professor emeritus of contemporary history. After working at the Institute for Contemporary History, he taught at Technische Universität Berlin from 1990 to 2011 and headed its Centre for Research on Antisemitism. His research focuses on twentieth-century German history, National Socialism, the Holocaust, antisemitism, racism, and other forms of prejudice. His publications include “A History of the Third Reich,” “What Is Antisemitism?” and “German Jews in the Twentieth Century.” He received the Geschwister Scholl Prize in 1992.
