Charles Simic

Charles Simic was born in Belgrade in 1938 and died in Dover, New Hampshire, in 2023. He came to the United States in 1954. Simic was a professor at the University of New Hampshire, where he taught from 1973 onward. He published around 20 poetry collections and received numerous honors, including the Pulitzer Prize. His most recently published poetry collections in German include “Picknick in der Nacht” (2016) and “Im Dunkeln gekritzelt” (2022).
