Georg Cornelissen (born 1954) is a German linguist and author. He studied German, history and Dutch studies in Bonn and Cologne, completed a doctorate and undertook legal clerkship training. From 1985 to 2021, he worked as a language researcher for the Landschaftsverband Rheinland, where he headed the language team at its Institute for Regional Studies and Regional History. Cornelissen has published numerous books on the history and development of language, as well as on the dialects and regional varieties of the Rhineland and North Rhine-Westphalia. His works include »Rheinisches Deutsch«, »Kleine Sprachgeschichte von Nordrhein-Westfalen«, »Düsseldorfisch« and »Meine Oma spricht noch Platt«.
