Gary N. Knoppers (1956–2018) was a theologian and biblical scholar. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1979, a Master of Divinity in 1982, a Master of Arts in 1986, and a PhD in 1988. He served as president of the Canadian Society of Biblical Studies from 2003 to 2004 and as president of the Biblical Colloquium from 2009 to 2011. From 2014 to 2018, he was the John A. O’Brien Professor of Theology at the University of Notre Dame.
