Gaby Hartel

Gaby Hartel (born 1961) is a cultural scholar, cultural journalist, radio author, exhibition curator and literary translator. She received her doctorate for research on Samuel Beckett as a visual artist and published several essays on him. As a curator, she contributed, among other projects, to the exhibition “Samuel Beckett/Bruce Nauman,” shown at the Kunsthalle Vienna in 2000. She has also co-edited monographs and essays on the media aesthetics of radio, the disembodied voice and placeless sounds. She has taught, among other institutions, at Freie Universität Berlin, the University of Kassel, the University of Oxford and the Oslo National Academy of the Arts.
