Farid Hafez

Farid Hafez is an Austrian political scientist and author. He earned his doctorate at the University of Vienna and completed his habilitation in political science. His academic career included work at the University of Salzburg, Williams College, Georgetown University, and the University of California, Berkeley, where he was a Fulbright Professor in 2017. In 2014, he was a visiting scholar at Columbia University. Hafez has written on Islamophobia, Islam in America, and hip-hop as a form of political culture. He served as editor of the bilingual Yearbook for Islamophobia Research and as co-editor of the European Islamophobia Report. In 2009, he received the Bruno Kreisky Recognition Award for the political book of the year.
