Elke Wehr

Elke Wehr (1946–2008) was a German translator from Spanish. She studied Romance languages and literature in Paris and Heidelberg and translated Spanish and Latin American prose into German from the 1970s onward. The authors she translated included Javier Marías, Mario Vargas Llosa, Octavio Paz, and Rafael Chirbes. In 2006, she received the Paul Celan Prize.
