Elizabeth Gilbert (born 1969) grew up on a Christmas tree farm in Connecticut. After studying in New York, she worked as a journalist, including for The New York Times, before beginning to write books. Time magazine named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world. She achieved international recognition in 2006 with the bestseller “Eat Pray Love,” in which a woman travels through Italy, India, and Bali in search of herself. The book was adapted into a 2010 film starring Julia Roberts. Gilbert’s other notable works include “Big Magic” (2015) and the novel “City of Girls” (2019), which appeared on the SPIEGEL bestseller list.
