Britt Somann-Jung, born in Hamburg in 1971, studied German and English literature and philosophy in Hamburg and London. After working at various publishing houses, she began translating from English in 2014. Her translations include works by Ta-Nehisi Coates, Elizabeth Gilbert, Tayari Jones, Kate Davies, Romalyn Tilghman, Heidi Julavits and Anna Hogeland. In 2019, she received the Hamburg Literature Prize for Literary Translation for her translation of Tayari Jones’s novel »In guten wie in schlechten Tagen«.
