Dieter Lamping

Dieter Lamping (born 1954 in Lohne, Oldenburg) is a German scholar of comparative literature. Until 2019, he taught Comparative Literature at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and also worked at several universities in Germany and abroad. He has published extensively on the history and theory of poetry, literary modernism, and world literature, including »Moderne Lyrik«, »Die Idee der Weltliteratur«, and »Kafka und die Folgen«. He has also written on authors such as Goethe, Kafka, Jaspers, Celan, and Hannah Arendt, and edited works by, among others, Alfred Andersch, Rainer Maria Rilke, and Franz Kafka.
