Claudia Dathe (b. 1971) studied translation studies, focusing on Russian and Polish, as well as business administration in Leipzig, Pyatigorsk, and Kraków. After working abroad in Kazakhstan and Ukraine, she worked on projects involving literary translation, cultural exchange, and civic education, including as a coordinator at the University of Tübingen’s Slavic Seminar. She has translated literature from Russian and Ukrainian into German, including works by Andrey Kurkov, Serhiy Zhadan, Ostap Slyvynskyj, and Yevgenia Belorusets. Her translations and her contribution to bringing Ukrainian literature to German-speaking audiences have received several awards, including the International Literature Prize and the Drahomán Prize.
