Christiane Buchner

Christiane Buchner studied American Studies, German as a Foreign Language and modern dance, earning an M.A., and completed postgraduate studies in literary translation in Munich and St. Louis. From 1990 onward, she worked as a freelance literary translator for publishers including Berlin, Diogenes, List, Piper, Rowohlt and Schirmer & Mosel. From 1995 to 2000, she also worked as an artists’ agent and press officer; in 1999, she was responsible for foreign rights at Max Hueber Verlag. Buchner translated contemporary literature from English, including works by Dara Horn, Gary Shteyngart and Naomi Alderman, and taught literary translation at LMU Munich from 2000 onward.
