Ann Weiser Cornell learned Focusing from Eugene Gendlin, who developed the process, in 1972. She received a doctorate in linguistics from the University of Chicago in 1975 and taught at Purdue University from 1975 to 1977. From 1980 to 1983, she taught Focusing together with Gendlin; she subsequently became the first full-time Focusing teacher. From the mid-1980s onward, she led Focusing workshops internationally. Her publications include “The Power of Focusing,” published in German as “Focusing – Der Stimme des Körpers folgen,” which has been translated into several languages.
