Alexandra Ripley

Alexandra Ripley (1934–2004) was an American author. She published her first novel in 1972 and subsequently wrote mainly historical fiction. She became widely known for “Scarlett,” her sequel to Margaret Mitchell’s “Gone with the Wind.” Ripley was born in Charleston, South Carolina, and died in Richmond, Virginia. She was married three times and had two daughters.
