Bijan Moini, born in 1984, is a lawyer, political scientist and civil-rights advocate of German-Iranian heritage. He studied law and political science in Munich, earned his doctorate under Hans-Jürgen Papier, and completed his legal traineeship in Berlin and Hong Kong. He then worked as a lawyer at a business law firm in Berlin. When he developed the idea for his first novel, he left the firm to devote himself to writing. His dystopian novel *Der Würfel* was published by Atrium Verlag in 2019; it received an award and was described as a bestseller. Moini also worked for the Society for Civil Rights, where he coordinated constitutional complaints.
