Pierre Christin (born in 1938 in Paris) studied at the Sorbonne and worked as a university lecturer in French literature in the United States and France. He wrote numerous comic scripts, novels, plays and screenplays. He became particularly known for the science-fiction series “Valerian and Laureline,” which he developed from 1967 for his childhood friend, artist Jean-Claude Mézières. His other major works include the socially critical series “Legends of Today,” created mainly with Enki Bilal, as well as albums for Annie Goetzinger. In Erlangen, Christin received the Max and Moritz Prize for Best Writer and for his life's work.
