Riad Sattouf, born in Paris in 1978, grew up in Libya and Syria before returning to France at the age of 13. He worked as a comic artist and filmmaker. From 2004 to 2014, he drew the weekly comic “La vie secrète des jeunes” for “Charlie Hebdo.” One of his best-known works is the autobiographical comic series “The Arab of Tomorrow.” In 2015, its first volume received the award for Best Album at the Angoulême International Comics Festival. As a filmmaker, he directed the film “The French Kissers” (“Jungs bleiben Jungs”).
