Amalie Skram

Amalie Skram (1846–1905) was a Norwegian writer. Born in Bergen, she wrote novels often shaped by her own experiences. During her first marriage to a sea captain, she accompanied him on voyages around the world before devoting herself to writing. Her best-known works include the trilogy »Die Leute von Felsenmoor«. Skram drew on her experiences in psychiatric care for her novel »Professor Hieronimus«.
