Wolfgang Lukas, born in 1959, studied German and Romance languages and literature in Munich. He received his doctorate in 1994 and completed his habilitation in 2000. In 2006, he was appointed professor of German studies and modern German literary studies at the University of Wuppertal. His research focuses on literary anthropology from the eighteenth to the twentieth century, the history of literature and discourse, and scholarly editing. He has been involved in editorial projects on C. F. Meyer's correspondence and the works of Arthur Schnitzler.
