Wim Wenders is a German director, author and photographer. In 1971, he co-founded the Filmverlag der Autoren with other filmmakers associated with the New German Cinema. He gained international recognition from the 1980s onward with films such as “Paris, Texas” (1984) and “Wings of Desire” (1987). His other notable works include the documentary “Pina” (2011) and “The Salt of the Earth” (2014), which he co-directed and which portrays the life and work of photographer Sebastião Salgado. Wenders described himself as “a traveler first, and only then a director or photographer.”
