Wendy Law-Yone

Wendy Law-Yone was born in 1947 in Mandalay, Burma, and grew up in Rangoon. She studied in the United States and worked as a journalist. After being imprisoned in connection with the 1962 military coup, she left Burma in 1967, first for Thailand and later for the United States. Her first novel, *The Coffin Tree*, was published in 1983, followed by *Irrawaddy Tango* (1993) and *The Road to Wanting* (2010). In 2013, she published the memoir *Golden Parasol: A Daughter’s Memoir of Burma*.
