Verena Reichel

Verena Reichel (1945–2022) was a freelance translator from Swedish, Norwegian, and Danish. Raised bilingually in Stockholm and southern Germany, she translated novels, poetry, and plays by authors including Ingmar Bergman, Katarina Frostenson, Lars Gustafsson, and Henning Mankell. From the 1970s onward, she translated numerous books by Lars Gustafsson. Her work received numerous honors, including the Helmut M. Braem Translation Prize, the Johann Heinrich Voss Prize, and the Swedish Academy Prize.
