Ulrike Haage is a composer, pianist, sound artist, and radio-play creator. She became known for work at the intersection of jazz, avant-garde, classical music, and literature. Her activities also included composing film music, directing radio plays, and performing as a solo pianist. Her awards include the German Jazz Prize (Albert Mangelsdorff Prize), the Special Music Prize of the Nordic Film Days, the German Documentary Film Music Prize, the Hörspielpreis der Kriegsblinden, and the Günter Eich Prize for lifetime achievement.
