Tobias Schwartz, born in Osnabrück in 1976, is a writer, playwright, translator and literary critic. He studied philosophy and literary studies in Berlin and Rome. His debut novel, Film B, was published in 2007. His subsequent publications include the novels Nordwestwärts (2019), Vogelpark (2020) and Morpho peleides (2021), the short-story collection Landkrank (2022), and the novella Im Nebel (2024). His plays have been performed at various German theatres. In 2013, Schwartz received a fellowship from the Literary Colloquium Berlin, and in 2015 he was awarded the Albrecht Lempp Fellowship in Kraków. As a translator, he has translated works by Virginia Woolf and Aphra Behn, among others.
