Tobias Roth (born 1985 in Munich) is a German author, poet, translator, and philologist. He studied in Freiburg and Berlin and earned a doctorate with a thesis on the poetry and philosophy of the Italian Renaissance. He made his literary debut in 2013 with the poetry collection “Aus Waben.” His other publications include the essay “Tradition,” “Grabungsplan,” “World of the Renaissance” (2020), and the volumes “World of the Renaissance: Naples” (2023) and “World of the Renaissance: Florence” (2024). Roth translated works from Latin, Italian, French, and English, including texts by Bartolomeo Scappi, Giovanni Pontano, and Angelo Poliziano. He was a co-founder of the publishing house Das Kulturelle Gedächtnis. His awards include an LCB fellowship (2010), the Wolfgang Weyrauch Advancement Award (2013), and the Bavarian Arts Promotion Award (2015).
