Moritz Rauchhaus (born 1993) is a Romance scholar and translator. He studied German literature, philosophy and European literatures in Berlin, Rome and Bordeaux. His research has focused on the Italian late Middle Ages, Mediterranean identities and the relationship between cuisine and literature, with particular attention to the writings of Giovanni Boccaccio. In 2024, he received the Förderpreis of the Mazzucchetti-Gschwend Translation Prize for his translation of Boccaccio’s »Trattatello in laude di Dante« (»A Little Book in Praise of Dante«). He worked on his translation of Boccaccio’s »Filocolo« for more than eight years.
