Thomas Kade

Thomas Kade was born in Halle, East Germany, in 1955. He worked as a social pedagogue and bookseller before publishing poetry, including the collections “Landschaft mit Stehgeiger,” “Die Augen beim Lieben,” “Fernabfrage,” and “Körper Flüchtigkeiten.” Kade founded the Literature Section of Dortmund’s Verein für Literatur and organized poetry weeks, the Southern European Literature Days, and the first LesArt literature festival in Dortmund. He also founded LiteraturRaum DortmundRuhr. His writing was translated for, among others, “Young German Poets” and “Verabredungen Afspraken.” He received the Postpoetry Prize in 2015 and 2019, as well as writers’ and work scholarships from the Kunststiftung NRW and North Rhine-Westphalia’s Ministry of Culture.
