Thomas Eggenberg

Thomas Eggenberg (born 1961 in Renens) studied German, philosophy and Japanese studies at the University of Zurich. After several years working as an editor, he moved to Japan with his wife in 1996. From 1999 to 2016, he taught German language, literature and culture at Shizuoka University. He published numerous translations of Japanese novels, including works by Banana Yoshimoto and Fuminori Nakamura. His translation work received several awards, including the Japan Foundation Translator Award, Cologne/Tokyo.
