Tania Blixen (1885–1962), born Karen Blixen-Finecke, was a Danish writer. She studied art in Copenhagen, Paris, and Rome before moving to Kenya in 1914, where she married the Swedish baron Blixen-Finecke and managed a coffee plantation for about fifteen years. After returning to Denmark, she devoted herself increasingly to writing. She became internationally known for her autobiographical work *Out of Africa*, published in Danish and English in 1937. She also wrote numerous short stories.
