Stefan von Kempis, born in Bonn in 1970, is a journalist and theologian. He studied history and theology in Bonn, Freiburg and Paris, as well as Islamic studies in Rome and Cairo. His career included work for the German-language service of Radio Vatican, later Vatican News, which he headed from 2019. He accompanied several popes on trips and wrote or edited several books about Pope Benedict XVI and Pope Francis.
