Simon Urban

Simon Urban (born 1975 in Hagen, Germany) studied German at the University of Münster and at the German Literature Institute Leipzig, and trained at the Texterschmiede advertising school in Hamburg. His debut novel, *Plan D* (2011), in which East Germany still exists, received the debut prize of the Stuttgart Crime Writers’ Award and was translated into eleven languages. His novels *Gondwana* and *Wie alles begann und wer dabei umkam* followed in 2014 and 2021; the latter received the Hamburg Literature Prize. Urban also won the Grand Prix and Gold at the Clio Awards and wrote the widely viewed Edeka commercial “#heimkommen” for the agency Jung von Matt, which reached more than 60 million views. He wrote the source narrative for the ARD feature film *Exit* (2020).
