Simon Urban

Simon Urban, born in Hagen in 1975, studied German literature in Münster and at the German Literature Institute Leipzig, and trained at the Texterschmiede Hamburg. His work has included writing novels and advertising copy. His debut novel, “Plan D” (2011), in which East Germany still exists, was translated into eleven languages and received the Debut Prize of the Stuttgart Crime Fiction Award. “Gondwana” followed in 2014, and “Wie alles begann und wer dabei umkam” in 2021; the latter received the Hamburg Literature Prize. For the agency Jung von Matt, Urban wrote the widely noted Edeka commercial “#heimkommen” and won the Grand Prix and Gold at the Clio Awards in 2009. He also wrote the story treatment for the ARD feature film “Exit” (2020).
