Silvia Henke

Silvia Henke (born 1962) is a German cultural theorist who served as a professor of cultural theory at Lucerne University of the Arts and Design. From 2003, she headed its theory department or study area and taught in the Fine Arts, Art in Public Spheres and Art Education programs. She studied German and French philology, philosophy and media studies in Basel and Hamburg. Her research has focused on art and religion, transcultural visual and art education, aesthetic education, art and politics, and the critique of language and discourse. Henke has published numerous essays on contemporary art, performance and visual education.
