Nicolaj van der Meulen

Nicolaj van der Meulen is an art historian and philosopher. He studied art history, philosophy and ecclesiastical history in Berlin and Basel; one source also mentions studies in Marburg. He received his doctorate from Gottfried Boehm in 2000 and completed his habilitation at the University of Hildesheim in 2013. Van der Meulen has taught and conducted research at the Basel School of Art and Design, FHNW, where he was involved with the Institute for Aesthetic Practice and Theory and the interdisciplinary teaching format “CoCreate.” His areas of work include culinary aesthetics and the philosophy of food, image theory and image literacy, as well as art and design theory.
