Bettina Augustin, born in 1959 in Torgau on the Elbe, studied literary studies in Mainz, Heidelberg, Paris, and Berlin. She worked as a freelance author, writing prose, literary criticism, and radio features. As an editor, she prepared editions of Emmanuel Bove’s novels for Manholt Verlag and published, among other works, a bilingual edition of Franz Kafka’s “Betrachtung/Contemplation.” She also directed the Arte film portrait “Das Leben als Schatten – Emmanuel Bove 1898–1945” (1998). Her own books include “Der unbekannte Zwilling. Annemarie Schwarzenbach im Spiegel der Fotografien” (2008) and “Unter den Hügeln von Uruguay. Zugstücke” (2017). In 2016, she co-founded Golden Luft Verlag with Johannes Schneider.
